Verse: We adore You, O Christ, and we praise You. Response: Because by your holy Cross You have redeemed the world.
Scripture: Now they were standing by the cross of Jesus, his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary of Cleophas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus, therefore, saw his mother and the disciple standing by, whom he loved, he said to his mother, “Woman, behold your son.” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his home. John 19:25 - 27
Reflection: Jesus you feel so alone with all those people yelling and screaming at you. You don’t like the words they are saying about you, and you look for a friendly face in the crowd. You see your mother. She can’t make the hurting stop, but it helps to see that she is on your side, that she is suffering with you. She does understand and care. Sometimes, Jesus, I feel overwhelmed. Life holds so many challenges and I don’t always handle them well. I worry so much about my loved ones and sometimes lash out in frustration or anxiety. I struggle to understand what God is asking of me in these situations. I feel so alone. Help me remember that you share in my pain. Help me to understand and accept God’s will for my life. Help me to entrust myself to Jesus and believe in his love, especially during times of trial.
Prayer: Mary, I am the cause of Jesus’ suffering. I have also caused you pain and anguish. Help me to entrust myself fully to Jesus and to believe in his love, especially during times of trial. Pray for me, O Holy Mother of God, that I may be made worthy of the promises of Christ.
Our Father, who art in heaven; hallowed by Thy name. Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil. Amen.
Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus. Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, AMEN.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end, AMEN.
