Virtual Stations of the Cross

Station 10: Jesus is stripped of his clothes

And they…divided his garments among them, casting lots for them,
deciding what each would take.
Mark 15: 24

Reflection:    Jesus has reached the top of Golgotha.  But there is not rest.  Immediately rough hands are tearing the robe from his body, opening again wounds that were sealed with sweat against the rough weave of the cloth.  Mary is there.  She feels within her soul each ripping sound; this was the seamless garment she wove; this is the flesh to which she gave birth.

Jesus stands naked, stripped of all dignity.
Picture
All the abuse, the rape, the sexual exploitation of women, of men, of children through the ages is revealed here in all its horror.

The women draw nearer as if to protect Jesus from the eyes of the vicious.

Let us in silence offer the love of our hearts to Jesus in this moment of his passion…Let our lives clothe the values he died for.

Prayer:          Were you there when they nailed him to the tree?
Were you there when they nailed him to the tree?
Oh sometimes it causes me to tremble, tremble, tremble.
Were you there when they nailed him to the tree?
Our Father, who art in heaven; hallowed by Thy name.  Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil.  Amen.

Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee.  Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.  Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death, AMEN.

Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end, AMEN.

Jesus Christ crucified, have mercy on us.
